GENERATOR, GENERATOR SET,
Information:
 Introduction
This Special Instruction is intended to give information on assembling the crankshaft bearing housing for WS255 well stimulation pumps. Before completing any procedure outlined in this document ensure that you have read and you understand all the information in this document. Also ensure that you are following all safety precautions while you are performing the procedures outlined in this document.Installation Procedure
Note: Bearing housings are installed onto the crankshaft after the main bearings are installed.Note: Each bearing housing is mated with a cap half and a rod half. The two mated halves MUST stay paired together.Note: Use caution when installing the journal bearing. Ensure that they are aligned correctly into the bearing housing.Note: Ensure that all components are thoroughly cleaned.

(1) 6 459-1876 Studs
Install the 6 459-1876 Studs into the rod half of the bearing housings. Apply Loctite 263 (red) to the threads of the blind hole and to the bottom 25.4 mm (1 inch) the studs threads. Install each stud into the threaded hole until it is fully engaged. Ensure that the studs are engaged with all threads in the bearing housing. Flip the rod half over onto a level surface to ensure that the studs are installed completely and at the same depth.

485-5478 Crankshaft Bearing Group
(2) Bearing (Cap half)
(3) Bearing (Rod half)Note: There are two serviceable bearing groups available. The 542-2507 Crankshaft Bearing Group (Tri-metal bearing group) and the 485-5478 Crankshaft Bearing Group (Bi-metal bearing group).
Identify the cap half bearing (2) and the rod half bearing (3) from the crankshaft bearing group. The rod half has four tabs to hold the bearing in place and the cap half only has one tab.
Clean all bearing surfaces. Insert the rod half bearing (3) into the rod half of the bearing housing. Confirm that the bearing is fully seated and the tabs are lined up. Next, Insert the cap half bearing (2) into the cap half of the bearing housing.
Repeat steps above for the remaining bearing housings.
Illustration 5 g03883712
Raise the crankshaft and stabilize at a height that is best for assembly. Confirm that the crankshaft is stable and safe to work on. Completely cover the crankshaft pins with a dry lubricant (dry moly). Generously apply grease to the crankshaft pin.
Use a floor jack board to help support the rod half of the bearing housing. Place the rod half onto the jack and slide the bearing underneath the crankshaft pin. Raise the rod half until it is sitting in the proper position against the pin.
Illustration 6 g03883716
Place the cap half on top of the crankshaft pin while aligning the dowel pins. Place Loctite 263 in the blind holes of rod half and to the bottom 31.75 mm (1.25 inch) of threads on the bolts. All bolts should include a lock washer. Insert 2 bolts in opposite corners to hold the two halves together. Install the remaining bolts and tighten equally until the gap closes
