Install 6T-2203 Dowel (1) in the bevel and transfer gear case (2). Install transition housing (3) on case (2). Install bolts (4). Use the magnetic base in 8S-2328 Dial Indicator Gp to fasten the dial indicator to ring (5). Put the tip of the dial indicator in 614.13 mm (24.178 inch) diameter bore (A). Check the Full Indicator Movement (FIM) around bore (A). If the indicator reads more than 0.15 mm (0.006 inch), loosen bolts (4) and remove dowel (1). Try to move housing (3) on case (2) to get the indicator to read less than 0.15 mm (0.006 inch) FIM.

(5) Housing (6) Pilot (B) 619.35 mm (24.384 inch) diameter.
If you cannot get the indicator to read 0.15 mm (0.006 inch) or less, remove housing (5). Put housing (5) in a lathe and machine pilot (6) to the dimension (B). Then again install housing (5) on case (2) above. Move the housing until the dial indicator reads less than .0.15 mm (0.006 inch) FIM. Tighten the bolts and keep the same FIM after the bolts are tight. Refer to Illustration 5 for dimension and item identification.

(2) Transfer gear case (5) Housing (C) Hole (D) Hole
Use an 18.25 mm (0.718 inch) diameter drill bit to make new holes (C) and (D) at the dimensions shown in Illustration 6. Make these holes 19.0 mm (0.75 inch) deep into the bevel and transfer gear case (2). Use a reamer to make holes (C) and (D) to 18.854 0.020 mm (0.7424 0.0008 inch) diameter. Remove housing (5) from the bevel gear case (2) and again use a reamer to make holes (C) and (D) in bevel gear case (2) to 18.943 0.020 mm (0.7458 0.0008 inch) diameter. Thoroughly clean both housings to remove all metal particles. Use a plastic hammer to install 6T-2203 Dowels in holes (C) and (D) in housing (5). Install housing (5) on bevel and transfer gear case (2). Refer to Illustration 6.Note: After the above modifications have been made to these housings, do not use either housing with another housing.

(2) Case (5) Ring (6) 6T-1995 Housing As (C) Hole (D) Hole
If a new 6T-1995 Housing As (6) is to be installed on former bevel and transfer gear case (2), new dowel holes must be made in the case. Remove dowel (7) from housing (6). Remove dowel (1) from case (2). Install housing (6) with dowel (8) on bevel gear case (2). Use the procedure given in Step 1, to check the alignment between housing (6) and ring (5). If the alignment is within the tolerances given, no modification to the hole for dowel (8) is needed, but a new hole for dowel (7) must be made in case (2). If it is not possible to get the correct alignment as shown, remove dowel (8). Move housing (6) to get the
