Remove the final drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device onto fender (1). The weight of fender (1) is approximately 91 kg (200 lb). Remove fender (1) .

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto wheel group (1A) .
Remove bearing cone (1B) .
Remove wheel group (1A). The weight of wheel group (1A) is approximately 907 kg (2000 lb).

Remove bearing cone (3). Remove spacer (2). Remove Duo-Cone seal (5). Remove retainer assembly (4) .

Remove Duo-Cone seal (6) from the wheel assembly. Remove bearing cups (7) .
