Oil pump (3) has two check valves (1) that should be checked. Clean these check valves. The oil pump is located near the saw motor. The oil pump can be accessed from the holes on the frame of the harvester head near the saw motor. Clean the check valve in a clean nonflammable solvent. Piston (2) should also be checked. The piston of the oil pump should move freely in the pump housing.Note: The two check valves of the saw pump are different. Ensure that check valves (1) are reinstalled in the correct locations. The saw pump may not function correctly if check valves (1) were installed in the wrong locations.
Carefully depress piston (2) with a screwdriver. Depress piston (2) several times. If the lubrication system is working correctly, oil should appear on the saw bar.Note: Periodically, air needs to be purged from the lubrication system. Use Step 5 for this procedure.

Check O-ring (4) between the tensioner and the bearing housing. If this O-ring is missing or damaged, proper lubrication will not occur.
Check O-ring (5) on the end of the piston assembly of the saw bar tensioner. The saw bar holder must be removed in order to access O-ring (5). If this O-ring is missing or damaged, proper lubrication will not occur.
Check locknut (6) on the housing of the saw bar tensioner. This nut should be tight. If the locknut is loose, lubricating oil will not reach the saw chain. This locknut is located next to the drive sprocket.
