231D ExcavatorsAn incorrect 9S6760 V-Belt Set is used in 7N8943 Alternator Group. The alternator group should be serviced with the 3N1491 V-Belt Set (2 Belts). The two belt set must be assembled in the two outside V-belt grooves farthest from the front of the engine. This will provide clearance from the lower radiator hose and provide adequate drive for the alternator. The incorrect belt set could contact the radiator hose and cut it causing coolant loss. The correct 3N1491 V-Belt Set can be assembled from the designated V-Belt group by discarding one of the 5M8135 V-Belts closest to the engine. The 9S6760 V-Belt consists of three 5M8135 V-Belts. The 3N1491 V-Belt consists of two 5M8135 V-Belts.
