Ensure that the right side plate and the left side plate are in the float mode. The indicator light under each side plate lower buttons (8) and (9) should be on. If either side plate is locked, push the corresponding side plate button.
Place protective material under the rotor to prevent damage to the rotor bits or the work surface.

Observe level indicator (10). If the indicator shows "0" go to Step 15. If the indicator does not show "0", go to Step 13.

Use rear leg height switches (11) and (12) to level the rear of the machine. Level indicator (10) will show "0" when the rear of the machine is level.
Use moldboard lower button (13) to lower the moldboard to the lowest position.
Use front leg lower button (15) and rear leg lower button (14) until the side plates are just touching the surface. Insure the rotor tips are not touching the surface. The rotor tips should be at least 25.4 mm (1 inch) from the surface.Note: The rotor will move during this procedure. Make personnel and equipment are clear of the area around the cutter box.

Ensure that the engine is operating in low idle. The high idle indicator light should be off. If this indicator is illuminated, press throttle control button (16) to operate the engine in low idle.

Move engine start switch (17) to the OFF position.

Remove the right and left rubber floor mats from operator platform. Remove six bolts and washers (18) and remove left platform center cover plate (19).
Remove eight bolts and washers (20) and remove right platform center cover plate (21).Note: The center valve is located beneath left platform center cover plate (19). The rear valve is located beneath right platform center cover plate (21). Remove both plates to allow access for adjustments to either valve.

Note: Illustration 14 shows a track tension valve attached to the center valve. Wheeled machines will not have a track tension valve attached to the center valve.
Remove cap from port "M1" (22) on the center valve. Connect Tool (A2) to the pressure tap in port "M1".
Clean and inspect the rotor to insure there is no loose debris is present. Insure all rotor tools and paddles are secure.Test Procedure
Move engine start switch (16) to the START position. Release the switch when the engine starts.
Operate the engine at low idle for a few minutes. Press throttle control button (15) to operate the engine in high idle.Note: The LED next to throttle control button (15) will be illuminated.

Monitor hydraulic oil temperature (23) on the operator display. Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches the test temperature listed in the "Specifications"section.

Press and hold rotor button (6) for approximately 2 seconds to engage the rotor. Indicator (24) next to the rotor button illuminates when the rotor is engaged.Note: Engine speed will automatically return to low idle before the rotor engages.
