Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Ensure that turbocharger (1) is clean and free from damage. Inspect the turbocharger for wear. Refer to System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Turbocharger Inspect" for more information. If the turbocharger is worn, the complete turbocharger must be replaced.
Test the wastegate actuator (15) for correct operation. Refer to System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Turbocharger Inspect". If the wastegate actuator is damaged or the wastegate actuator does not operate within the specified limits, the turbocharger assembly must be replaced.
Clean the gasket surface of the exhaust manifold and turbo charger (1).
If necessary, install studs (5) to the exhaust manifold . Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of studs (5). Tighten the studs to a torque of 18 N m (159 lb in).
Position gasket (6) (not shown) onto studs (5).
Install turbocharger (1) onto the exhaust manifold.
Install nuts (4). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 44 N m (32 lb ft).
Ensure that tube assembly (9) and tube assembly (12) are clean, free from damage, and restriction. Replace any damaged components.
Position a new gasket (14) (not shown) and bolts (13) onto tube assembly (9).
Position tube assembly (9) onto the cylinder block and tighten bolts (13) finger tight.
Position a new gasket (7) (not shown) and bolts (8) onto tube assembly (9). Tighten bolts (13) finger tight.
Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 22 N m (194.7 lb in).
Tighten bolts (13) to a torque of 22 N m (194.7 lb in).
Lubricate the turbocharger bearings with clean engine oil through the oil inlet port, refer to Illustration 2. Rotate the wheel of the compressor several times in order to lubricate the bearings.
Position new sealing washer (3) (not shown) onto banjo bolt (2). Install the banjo bolt to tube assembly (12) and position remaining new sealing washer (3) (not shown) onto the banjo bolt.
Install tube assembly (9) to turbocharger (1). Tighten the banjo bolt finger tight.
Position new sealing washer (11) (not shown) onto banjo bolt (10). Install banjo bolt to tube assembly (12) and position remaining new sealing washer (3) (not shown) onto the banjo bolt.
Install tube assembly (12) to the cylinder block. Tighten the banjo bolt finger tight.
Tighten banjo bolt (2) and banjo bolt (10) to a torque of 18 N m (159.3 lb in).
Install tube assembly (16) onto actuator (15).
If the turbocharger has an exhaust elbow, install the exhaust elbow. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Elbow - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Connect the exhaust tube assembly. Refer to the Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) for the correct procedure.
Connect the hose assemblies to the turbocharger inlet and the turbocharger the outlet. Refer to the OEM for the correct procedure.
