The 271-8590 Analyzer Group (24-Volt) performs battery tests, electrical system tests, and diode tests on 12- and 24-Volt electrical systems for any Caterpillar Products.The rugged diagnostic tool tests both flooded lead acid (FLA) and absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery types. Through an algorithm design and internal resistance loading, the tool will test the following battery pack configurations:
single battery, 6- or 12-Volt
two batteries in series, 24-Volt
two, three, or four batteries in parallel, 12-Volt
two banks in parallel with each bank in series, 24-VoltThe analyzer features a wide cold cranking ampere (CCA) range of 50 to 4000 CCA at 24 Volts. A long, 4.6 m (15 ft) test cable assembly allows the technician to work in the cab while the analyzer is connected to the engine. Amp clamp connections allow the analyzer to use optional amp clamp cables for current drain tests and for starting and charging tests.Digital circuitry accurately controls the testing. Minimal interaction from the technician is required. The analyzer accepts CCA, CA, AHR, MCA, JIS, and DIN units. The large, 4 X 20 character display requires less scrolling in order to display information. The display is backlit for easy viewing in all conditions.The analyzer uses soft-touch keys with an over-molded surround for easy operation while wearing gloves during cold weather. A security cable connection allows the technician to tether the tool in order to prevent drops or for security purposes.The tool has infrared communications capability for use with an optional wireless printer. The printer features user-defined headers and footers for customized print-outs.
