Component Code(s) 1071SUBJECT: AIR INTAKE MAY BECOME LOOSE ON THE CP/CS SOIL COMPACTORS RESULTING IN ENGINE DAMAGE
PROBLEM:
The clamps securing the air hoses on the air intake system have become loose and have allowed foreign material to be ingested into the engine. The ingested material has caused enough cylinder and ring wear that the engine needed to be replaced.
SOLUTION:
Remove the 8T-4984 Clamp and the 216-7955 hose from the inlet port of the turbo. Clean the port of the turbo and the inside of the hose with Loctite 7031. Reinstall the hose on to the turbo. Fit the clamp as shown in the photo below. Torque the clamp to 11 Nm. (8 ft lbs).
