Remove the lockup clutch and solenoid valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Lockup Clutch and Solenoid Valve (Torque Converter) - Remove". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

Install Tooling (B), Tooling (C), and a suitable lifting device to the transmission and the torque converter. The weight of the transmission and torque converter is approximately 2025 kg (4465 lb). Position the transmission and the torque converter on Tooling (A) and suitable blocking.

Disconnect harness assembly (2). Remove cover (1). Remove bracket assembly (3) and position bracket assembly (3) out of the way.

Remove retaining bolts (4).

Disconnect harness assembly (5).

Install Tooling (B), Tooling (C), and a suitable lifting device to transmission housing (7). The weight of transmission housing (7) is approximately 1270 kg (2800 lb).
Remove nuts (6) and transmission housing (7).
