Remove foam filter (1). Discard foam filter (1). A new foam filter is provided in the transducer replacement kit.
Illustration 2 g00824328
Remove four screws (2). The screws secure the black retaining ring to the Sonic® Tracker II. Remove retaining ring (3). Remove O-ring (4). Discard O-ring (4). A new O-ring is supplied with the transducer Replacement Kit.Note: Four replacement screws are supplied in the transducer replacement kit. Try to use the original screws. Keep the four screws that are supplied in the transducer kit. The extra screws can be used if you lose any of the screws. Note: Always remove the used O-rings. Always discard the used O-rings. The used O-rings may lose flexibility. The O-rings may become distorted. This is a result of weather conditions or this is a result of exposure to diesel fumes.

Transducer (5) can now be pulled out. Remove the transducer gently. To gently cut ty-wrap (6), use a small pair of wire cutters. Then remove the small wire connectors from tabs (7) .Note: When you cut the ty-wrap, be careful not to cut the wires or damage the wires.

Place the wire connectors of the new transducer firmly on tabs (7). The gray wire connector is placed on the elevated tab. Place the ty-wrap in the slot next to the elevated gray wire tab. Tighten the ty-wrap and trim the ty-wrap. Be careful not to pinch the wires.
Place the new O-ring around the transducer. Feed the wires upward into the Sonic Tracker II®. Seat the new transducer gently into the recessed area. The two wire tabs must sit into the extra deep area of the recess. Seat the O-ring firmly between the transducer and the Sonic Tracker II®.

Place black retaining ring (3) over the transducer assembly. Make sure that the beveled edges on the retaining ring are out. The flat surface of the retaining ring should seat against the base of the Sonic Tracker II®. Line up the holes for the mounting screws. The mounting screw holes are set to an irregular pattern. This ensures that the retaining ring will only line up with the mounting holes in one way.
Illustration 6 g00825996
Start mounting screws (2) into the holes. Hand tighten each screw until the screws become firm. Do not overtighten the screws. Use a cross pattern in order to tighten the screws.Note: If you overtighten the screws, a distortion of the metallic material on the transducer may occur. Also, the retaining ring may crack. Use of the O-ring ensures tightness. Use of the O-ring also prevents vibrations from loosening the mounting screws.Note: Do not use retaining compound on the mounting screws. Retaining compound will corrode the plastic retaining ring.
Make sure that you observe no wrinkles in the metallic surface inside the transducer. If distortion is evident, repeat Steps 5 through 8.

Place new foam filter over the transducer. The Sonic Tracker II® is now ready to return to operation.
