Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below. Problem
The 24V/12V converter on the back of the deluxe seat may fail due to a quality issue. When this converter fails, the heated/ventilated seat will not function as specified.Solution
Add a 10-Ampere 9W-1442 Fuse within the 304-5284 Fuse Holder into the wire that goes to the 24V/12V Converter.Procedure to place the fuse:
Illustration 1 g03544578
Remove the back cover (A) of the seat by drilling out the rivets.
Avoid any drill contact with the restraint. Any damage to the restraint will require replacement.
Illustration 2 g03544579
Disconnect the power supply (two red input wires (B) on the converter and one black ground wire (C) on the converter) to the converter (D). Refer to Illustration 2.
Illustration 3 g03544584
Take off black cover (E) of the wire to prepare for splicing as shown in Illustration 3.
Illustration 4 g03544586
Use a 304-5284 Fuse Holder (1) to splice into the red power wire.
Illustration 5 g03544587
Cut 50.8 mm (2.00 inch) off each end of the yellow wires and crimp on two connectors as shown in Illustration 5.
Illustration 6 g03544594
Insert a longer 18 gage red wire (F) (about the same length as the black ground wire) into the connector. Splice the wire in with the fuse holder wire as shown in Illustration 6.
Splice in the other end of the fuse holder into the red power wire (G) as shown in Illustration 6.
Illustration 7 g03544600
Put the black cover (E) back over the three wires as shown in Illustration 7.
Illustration 8 g03544602
Place a 10-Ampere 9W-1442 Fuse (2) in the line as shown in Illustration 7.Note: The fuse will be placed on the two +IN terminals (H) on the converter as shown in Illustration 8.ReferenceRefer to Special Instruction, REHS7215, "Repair Procedure for Damaged Harness Wiring" for splicing electrical connections.
Illustration 9 g03544578
Avoid any drill contact with the restraint. Any damage to the restraint will require replacement.
Put cover (A) back in place and rivet the cover to the seat back without damaging the restraint.
