(9) Pushrod (10) Master cylinderThe brake pedal (1) is held in position on the shaft assembly (2) with key (7). The lever (6) is welded to the shaft assembly. The lever is connected to the pushrod (9) on the master cylinder (10) .When the brake pedal is pushed down, the shaft assembly (2) turns within the bearings (4). As the shaft turns, the lever (6) pushes the pushrod of the master cylinder downward. The downward movement of the pushrod operates the master cylinder. Oil flows out of the master cylinder to the disc brakes in the front axle. As the shaft assembly turns, the switch (5) activates the brake lights. Refer to Systems Operation, "Master Cylinder" for more information on the operation of the master cylinder.When the brake pedal is released, the spring (3) returns the brake pedal against the bumper (8).
