MID 039 - Machine Control Module CID 3733 - Autonomous Cabinet Temperature Sensor FMI 03 - Voltage Above Normal
Illustration 1 g03217036A CID 3733 FMI 03 is recorded when the Input/Output Module (I/O Module) reads the voltage of the sensor as above normal.Service Notes: Ensure that the CID 3733 FMI 03 is active. This procedure can cause new diagnostic codes to be recorded. Ignore these created diagnostic codes. When the procedure is completed, clear the created diagnostic codes.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SENSOR.
Turn the disconnect switch and the keyswitch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness from the sensor.
Measure the resistance between pins 1 and 2 of the sensor. Expected Result:The resistance is approximately 1000 Ohms at 25° C (77° F).Results:
OK - The resistance is approximately 1000 Ohms at 25° C (77° F). The sensor is working properly. Proceed to test step 2.
NOT OK - The sensor shows an open (infinite resistance). The sensor has failed.Repair: Replace the sensor.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK FOR SHORT TO BATTERY
The disconnect switch and the keyswitch remain in the ON position.
The sensor remains disconnected.
Remove signal wire contact J1-22 (C453-YL(Yellow)) and remove return wire contact J1-45 (C988-BK(Black)) from the Input/Output Module (I/O Module) connector.
Check the voltage at both signal and return wire using a known good ground contact. Expected Result:There is no voltage at either wire. Results:
OK - There is no voltage present. The harness is correct. Proceed to test step 3.
NOT OK - There is voltage measured across at least one wire. Proceed to test step 3.Test Step 3. CHECK THE STATUS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE.
Return all connectors and wires to operating state.
Turn the disconnect switch and the keyswitch to the ON position.
Check the status of the CID 3733 FMI 03 in Cat ET. Results:
OK - The code is no longer active.Repair: The problem was fixed in a previous Step or was a loose or bad connection. By removing and properly installing the connectors, the issue was resolved.STOP
NOT OK - The code is still active.Repair: Repeat the process from the beginning to ensure that the issue is found and resolved.STOP
