1. Remove eight of the nine bolts (1) from the flywheel. 2. Install a 5/8"-18 NF guide bolt (2) in flywheel as shown. On later machines two 5P9736 Link Brackets can be used to fasten a hoist to the flywheel.3. Install a 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolt in the flywheel.4. Fasten a hoist to the flywheel. Weight of flywheel is 45 Kg (45 lb.).5. Remove bolt (3) from flywheel.6. Remove flywheel. If necessary, make a replacement of the ring gear around the flywheel. 7. Remove gear (4) from behind flywheel.Install Flywheel
1. Install a 5/8"-18 NF guide bolt (1) in crankshaft bolt hole.2. Put gear (3) in position shown. Make sure the dash mark on gear (3) is in alignment with the dash mark on the crankshaft.3. If the ring gear was removed from the flywheel, heat a new ring gear to a maximum temperature of 320°C (640°F) and install it with the chamfer on the teeth of the ring gear toward the engine.4. Fasten a hoist to the flywheel. Weight of the flywheel is 45 Kg (100 lb.).5. Make an alignment of the dash mark on the crankshaft with the dash mark on the flywheel and put flywheel (2) in position on the guide bolt.6. Install eight of nine bolts in flywheel (2) and tighten these to a torque of 205 27 N m (105 20 lb.).7. Remove the guide bolt and eyebolt. Install the last bolt in the flywheel and tighten it to a torque of 205 27 N m (105 20 lb.).End By:a. install torque divider**This operation is in the Power Train Disassembly and Assembly Section.
