GOVERNOR GROUP 9S6701 - Caterpillar

1. Loosen setscrew (1), and remove pedal (2) from the shaft. 2. Remove four screws (4), and remove pedal housing (3) from the floor plate. 3. Remove two bolts (7) and bar (5) from cover assembly (8).4. Remove three bolts (6) and cover assembly (8) from pedal housing (3). 5. Remove bearing (9) from cover (8). 6. Remove cotter pin (13) and pin (14) that connect the cable assembly to lever (12).7. Remove lever (12) and shaft (11) as a unit and two washers (10) from the governor pedal housing. 8. Remove bolt (15) from lever (12).9. Remove shaft (11) and the key from the lever.10. Remove the key from shaft (11). 11. Remove rod end (16), guide (20), spring (19) and guide (18) from cable assembly (17). 12. Loosen nut (21), and remove housing (22) from cable housing (17). 13. Remove bearing (23) from housing (3). 14. If the cable is to be removed, disconnect clip (24) that holds cable assembly (17) to the transmission.
Typical Example15. Remove the six screws, and remove the cover from the governor housing.16. Remove bolt (29), and disconnect rod end (28) from lever (25).17. Mark the position of lever (25) on the governor shaft, and remove lever (25) from the shaft.18. Loosen nut (27), and remove rod end (28) from the cable assembly.19. Remove nut (31) that holds the cable assembly in position in governor housing (26).20. Remove two bolts (30) that hold governor housing (26) to the governor.21. Remove the governor housing from the governor and the cable assembly.22. If necessary, remove the seal from the rear of the governor housing.Assemble And Install Governor Pedal And Housing Group
1. Use tooling (A), and install bearing (2) in governor pedal housing (1). Make sure the bearing is installed with the stamped side out and even with the outside surface of the housing. Place tooling (A) against the stamped side when installing the bearing. 2. Install the seal and nut (4) on cable assembly (3) until they are against the shoulder of the cable assembly.3. Install pedal housing (1) on cable assembly (3) until it is against the seal and nut (4). 4. Install guide (6), spring (7), guide (8) and rod end (5) on the cable assembly. Make sure guide (8) and rod end (5) are installed all the way on the cable assembly. 5. Install the key in the keyway of shaft (9).6. Put shaft (9) in position in the bore of lever (11), and install bolt (10) that holds it in place. Make sure the key is centered in the bore of lever (11). 7. Install bearing (12) on shaft (9).8. Install shaft (9) and lever (11) in the governor pedal housing as a unit. 9. Adjust cable assembly (3) in the governor pedal housing as follows:a. Hold lever (11) against the front of pedal housing (1) as shown.b. Fully extend rod (13) in the cable assembly toward lever (11) and adjust rod end (5) and cable assembly (3) as needed
