Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the left engine side guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Side Guards - Remove and Install".
Remove the rear center bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Remove".
Accidental machine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the machine.To avoid accidental machine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key. If the machine is not equipped with a battery disconnect switch, disconnect the battery cables from the battery and tape the battery clamps.Place a do not operate tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Battery Disconnect Switch".

Disconnect cable assemblies (4).
Disconnect harness assemblies (1).
Disconnect harness assembly (2).
Disconnect ground strap (5).
Use two people in order to remove electric starting motor (6). Remove bolts (3) (not shown) in order to remove electric starting motor (6). The weight of electric starting motor (6) is approximately 37 kg (81 lb). Installation Procedure

Use two people in order to position electric starting motor (6). The weight of electric starting motor (6) is approximately 37 kg (81 lb). Install bolts (3) (not shown).
Connect ground strap (5).
Connect harness assembly (2).
Connect harness assemblies (1).
Connect cable assemblies (4).
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Battery Disconnect Switch". End By:
Install the rear center bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Install".
Install the left engine side guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Side Guards - Remove and Install".
