Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Check all components for wear and damage. If necessary, replace any components that are worn or damaged.
Check that the balancer drive gear is not worn or damaged. If necessary, replace the balancer drive gear.

Install Tooling (A) into Position (Y) in the cylinder block. Note: Failure to locate the crankshaft in the correct position will cause severe engine damage.
Install Tooling (B) into Position (X) in the front housing.
Ensure that Tooling (C) is installed to balancer (6). Note: New balancers will be supplied with Tooling (C) in position.
If necessary, install dowels (11) to balancer (6).
Attach a suitable lifting device to the balancer. The weight is approximately 15 kg (33 lb).
Use the suitable lifting device in order to install the balancer to the cylinder block.
Install bolts (7) to the balancer. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 70 N m (52 lb ft).
Remove the suitable lifting device from the balancer.
Install a new O-ring seal (10) onto suction pipe (5). Install the suction pipe assembly to the cylinder block.
Install bolt (9) finger tight.
Install bolts (8) finger tight.
Tighten bolt (9) to a torque of 10 N m (89 lb in)
When M8 bolts are installed, tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 25 N m (221 lb in). When M10 bolts are installed, tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 45 N m (33 lb ft).
Remove Tooling (C) from Position (Z) in the balancer.
Remove Tooling (A) from Position (Y) in the cylinder block.
Install a new O-ring seal (4) to plug (3). Install plug (3) into Position (Y) in the cylinder block. Tighten the plug to a torque of 50 N m (37 lb ft).
Remove Tooling (B) from Position (X) in the front housing.
Install a new O-ring seal (1) to plug (2). Install plug (2) into Position (X) in the front housing. Tighten the plug to a torque of 25 N m (221 lb in). End By:
Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.

When M8 bolts are installed, tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 25 N m (221 lb in). When M10 bolts are installed, tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 45 N m (33 lb ft).
Remove Tooling (C) from Position (Z) in the balancer.
Remove Tooling (A) from Position (Y) in the cylinder block.
Install a new O-ring seal (4) to plug (3). Install plug (3) into Position (Y) in the cylinder block. Tighten the plug to a torque of 50 N m (37 lb ft).
Remove Tooling (B) from Position (X) in the front housing.
Install a new O-ring seal (1) to plug (2). Install plug (2) into Position (X) in the front housing. Tighten the plug to a torque of 25 N m (221 lb in). End By:
Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
