The machine frame does not currently include the welded on hinges to support this cover kit. This TIB provides detail regarding the pending change, communications plan, parts procurement process, and interim repair procedure for adding the hinges to an existing machine.

This TIB outlines the basic procedure for installing the 345-5507 Hinge onto the frame in order to mount the 345-5504 Cover Kit . The hinge will become part of the D-series frame, however early machines have not adopted this change yet. If the machine frame does not contain the hinges, the dealer can order the hinges from Parts Service. The dealer can weld the hinges onto the frame as outlined in this instruction. Once the hinges become part of the machine frame, a service magazine article will communicate machine serial number effectivity and the hydraulic cover kit Special Instruction, REHS5795, "" will be updated.Note: If your parts order for the hinges generates a back order response, contact Morton customer service. Install the two Hinges (1) to the right side of the machine. Refer to Illustration 1.
Follow the instruction for installation:

Hinge has to align with the captured edge (1) 345-5507 Hinge

(A) 58 mm (2.30 inch) (B) 117 mm (4.61 inch)
Mark the locations on the frame for installing the two Hinges (1) use the dimension that provided in Illustration 3.
Prepare hinge mounting by removing the paint in the frame as marked location
Use Sanding disc to remove the paint from the frame

Weld two Hinges (1) on to the frame. Refer to the dimension in Illustration 3. Weld the hinges at point (Y) and point (Z) using a 3 mm (0.12 inch) filet weld. Refer to the welding details in Illustration 4.
In order to mount the hydraulic kit cover, ensure that the two hinge holes align. Refer to Illustration 1.
Clean the welds and inspect the welds
Paint the welds and hinge areas to prevent corrosion
