Information:

The welding procedure used during this repair is very important. No weld should be more than 115 mm (4.50") in length, and each weld must feel cool to the hand before another weld application is made to the same flange. This procedure must be followed to keep distortion of the seal and bearing bores inside the roller frame to a minimum.
(8) Again, install FT1839 Fixture (12), boring bar (15), two FT1842 Bearings (17) and two 7T1812 Mounting Plates (18). If necessary, grind off material or add weld material on the roller frame until there is an acceptable fit between the mounting plates and the roller frame. (9) Put the rear surface of the front mounting plate in position at the dimension shown from the centerline of the pivot shaft bore. Position the front surface of the rear mounting at the dimension shown from the rear surface of the front mounting plate. For the step given above, put mounting plates in positions shown so surfaces (C) and (D) are in alignment, as close as possible, with the former surfaces on the cast flanges. Put a protective cover over the boring bar, and tack weld both mounting plates in position. (10) Make brace (19) from flat mild steel 12.5 mm × 50 mm × 344 mm (.50" × 2.0" × 13.5"), and weld in position as shown. Remove boring bar (15), FT1842 Bearings (17) and FT1839 Fixture (12). (11) Use E7018 Electrodes to weld the mounting plates to the roller frame. All welds must be made in sequence from side-to-side and flange to flange. No weld should be more than 115 mm (4.50") in length; before a second weld is made, the first weld must feel cool to the hand. Use 3.16 mmØ (.125"Ø) electrodes for the root passes and 3.97 mmØ (.156"Ø) electrodes for all other welds. Make bevel groove welds the same size as the chamfers on the mounting plates. Do not increase welds beyond the inside surface of the mounting plates, as the extra weld may not permit enough clearance for installation of the equalizer bar. On the back side of the rear mounting plate, and on the ends of both mounting plates, make a fillet weld and gradually decrease the size of the welds to make a smooth junction.
Use caution when the front mounting plate is welded, as too much weld can cause distortion of the roller frame bearing and seal bores next to the front mounting plate. After all welding is complete, remove brace (19). Drain the water from the roller frame and remove FT1840 Plate (11).
(12) Install boring bar (15), FT1839 Fixture (12) and two pillow block bearings as shown. After the pillow block bearings are welded in position, remove FT1839 Fixture (12). Cover the boring bar and bearing bore with protective material before welding.(13) Use portable boring equipment [1P4000 Boring Bar Group], or similar equipment that is available in your area, to line bore the front and rear mounting plates
