Assemble the rod and aluminum pistons with the marking "front" on the piston body and forging part number on the rod assembly are in the opposite direction.    
A     1     238-2698 Body     Lubricate the entire piston to 360 degrees prior to assembly into the cylinder block. Use clean engine oil.    
1     1     197-9386 Piston Ring     Install the piston ring with the side marked "UP-1" toward the top of the piston. The colored stripe faces to the right of the piston ring end gap.    
Thickness of the new top piston ring is 3.32 mm (0.131 inch).
Clearance between the ends of the piston ring in a cylinder liner bore of
110 mm (4.3 inch) is
0.40 0.10 mm (0.016 0.004 inch).
The piston ring has an increase in clearance for each
0.03 mm (0.001 inch) increase in the cylinder liner bore of
0.09 mm (0.004 inch).
2     1     197-9353 Piston Ring     Install the piston ring with the side marked "UP-2" toward the top of the piston. The colored stripe faces to the right of the piston ring end gap.    
Thickness of the new intermediate piston ring is
2.980 0.010 mm (0.1173 0.0004 inch).
Clearance between the ends of the piston ring in a cylinder liner bore of
110 mm (4.3 inch) is
1.200 0.125 mm (0.0472 0.0049 inch).
The piston ring has an increase in clearance for each
0.03 mm (0.001 inch) increase in the cylinder liner bore of
0.09 mm (0.004 inch).
3     1     197-9354 Piston Ring     The ends of the spring coil should be placed 180 degrees from the end gap of the oil control piston rings. The colored portion of the spring must be visible at the ring end gap.    
Thickness of the new oil control ring is
3.985 0.010 mm (0.1569 0.0004 inch).
Clearance between the ends of the oil control ring in a cylinder liner bore of
110 mm (4.3 inch) is
0.45 0.15 mm (0.018 0.006 inch).
The piston ring has an increase in clearance for each
0.03 mm (0.001 inch) increase in the cylinder liner bore of
0.09 mm (0.004 inch).
4     1     168-7224 Piston Pin     Before assembly, lubricate with clean engine oil.    
Outside diameter is
39.993 0.005 mm (1.5745 0.0002 inch).
Bore for the piston pin is
40.0115 0.0025 mm (1.57525 0.00010 inch).
5     2     7C-0111 Pin Retainer     Install the pin retainer to the piston as shown in Illustration 1.    
6     1     224-6638 Connecting Rod Bearing     Lubricate the inside diameter 360 degrees with clean engine oil before installing into cylinder block.    
-     -     -     After the piston rings have been installed, rotate the piston rings so that the end gaps are 120 degrees from each other.
