Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

Use Tooling (B) in order to install bearing (23). Install ring (22). Use Tooling (B) in order to install lip seal (21) in bearing cage assembly (8).
If dowels (24) were removed, install dowels (24).

Turn bearing cage assembly (8) onto the opposite side. Use a suitable rubber mallet in order to install brake shaft (19).

Turn the bearing cage assembly onto the opposite side. Install hub (20) and seal (18) on brake shaft (19).

Install retainer (17) and bolt (16) on the brake shaft. Tighten bolt (16) to a torque of 105 20 N m (78 15 lb ft).

Install brake discs (15) and clutch plates (14) in alternating order. Start with a clutch plate (14).

Install pressure plate (13) on bearing cage assembly (8).

Install springs (12) on pressure plate (13).

Install brake seals (11), backup rings (10), and lip seals (9) in the bores of brake housing (4). Note: Lip seals (9) must contact the counterbore in the brake housing. Make sure that the sealing lips are facing outward. Lubricate the sealing lip with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Use two people in order to position brake housing (4) onto bearing cage assembly (8). The weight of brake housing (4) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb).

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install the washers and bolts (7) in brake housing (4). Tighten bolts (7) evenly to a torque of 270 40 N m (200 30 lb ft).

Lubricate pistons (6) lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed. Use Tooling (A) in order to install pistons (6) in the brake housing.
Install spacers (5) in the brake housing.

Position retaining plate (3) onto brake housing (4).
Install the washers and bolts (2) that secure retaining plate (3) to brake housing (4). Tighten bolts (2) evenly to a torque of 105 20 N m (78 15 lb ft). Note: Leave three bolts (1) in the storage location, as shown.End By:
