GROUP PIN 1C4579 - Caterpillar

1. Move the counterweight to the "EXTENDED" position.
Install service link (1) to hold the counterweight frame in the "EXTENDED" position while service work is being performed.
2. At the top of the counterweight remove setscrew (3) and loosen rod (2). Use a hammer, if necessary, to loosen rod (2). 3. Put tool (A) in rod (2). Fasten a hoist and remove rod (2). The weight of rod (2) is 30 kg (65 lb.). 4. Fasten tool (B) with two nylon straps to counterweight section (4). The weight of each counterweight section is 1362 kg (3000 lb.).5. Lift the counterweight section (4) a small amount to be sure it will hang level. If counterweight section (4) does not hang level, lower the counterweight section and make adjustment to tooling (B) so the counterweight section will hang level. Removal of the counterweight sections from the counterweight frame will be easier if the counterweight sections hang level.6. Lower the counterweight section and move it away from the machine. Put the counterweight in storage on wood block in a level position on the ground.7. Remove the remainder of the counterweight sections.Install Counterweight Sections
1. Fasten tooling (A) with two nylon straps to a counterweight section is (1). The weight of each counterweight section 1362 kg (3000 lb.).2. Be sure the counterweight section will hang level and carefully put the section in the counterweight frame.3. Install the remainder of the counterweight sections. 4. Install tool (B) in rod (3) and put rod (3) through the counterweight sections.5. Turn rod (3) into the counterweight frame.6. Tighten rod (3) by striking the top edge with a hammer. Secure the position of rod (3) with setscrew (2). 7. Remove service link (4).
