This Special Instruction is specific to Laptops/Personal Computers (PCs) running Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System and Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC). WMDC can be downloaded from Microsoft at the following address:http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14
Note: Windows 7 should already have WMDC installed.If your Laptop/PC is running Microsoft Windows XP Operating System, then refer to Special Instruction, REHS5594-00 for instructions for downloading and installing Microsoft ActiveSync.Note: Only use the section that explains installing Microsoft ActiveSync onto your Laptop/PC. Go to SIS Web and click on "Downloads".
Locate and save the "CmpdAMIDUpdater.exe" file to a known location on the PC.Connection Settings

Open the "Start" menu and type "windows mobile device" into the search bar at the bottom.
Click on the "Change connection settings" search results.

Before connecting the display via USB, make sure the "Connection Settings" match Illustration 3.
Click "OK" to exit the "Connection Settings" window. Connecting To The Color Marine Power Display (CMPD)

Connect to the display by plugging in the 318-8840 USB Cable As from the computer to the display.

The "Windows Mobile Device Center" window will automatically come up on the computer screen and change the status at the bottom left from "Not Connected" to "Connecting", shown in Illustrations 4 and 5.

Once the device is securely connected to the computer, the window should look like Illustration 6. Select "Connect without setting up your device".

Select "File Management".
Select "Browse the contents of your device".

Note: Selecting "Browse the contents of your device" should open a Windows Explorer window, showing the file contents of the display.
Double-click the "Storage" folder to view the storage files.
Double-click the "CMPD_AT" folder.
Right click on the "CMPD.exe" file and select "Rename".
Rename the "CMPD.exe" file to "CMPD.bak" using the PC keyboard.
Navigate back to the "Storage" folder by clicking the "Storage" folder in the address bar at the top of the Windows Explorer window or by using the "Back" arrow at the top of the window.
Navigate to the location of the saved "CmpdAMIDUpdater.exe" file sent with these instructions.
Copy the "CmpdAMIDUpdater.exe" file by either dragging and dropping the file into the window with the CMPD "Storage" folder or by using Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste the file into the CMPD Storage folder.Note: Once the file transfer is complete, the display's "Storage" folder should contain the "CmpdAMIDUpdater.exe" file.
Key cycle the display (Ignition Off then On).

Note: Display will boot up and the screen will be blank with a snake skin pattern background.
Using the keypad on the CMPD, press the following sequence twice in order to pull up the "Start Menu":
