Use Tool (C) in order to remove wheel bearing adjusting nut (10) .

Remove planetary ring gear hub (11) .

Caution must be observed when the wheel hub assembly is removed to prevent damage to the oil seal.
Use Tool (D) and (E) (not shown) and a suitable lifting device in order to remove the wheel hub assembly from the axle spindle. The weight of the wheel hub assembly is 118 kg (260 lb).

Remove bolts (12) in order to separate axle spindle (13) from steering knuckle (14) .

Remove axle shaft assembly (15) from steering knuckle (14) and the axle housing.Note: Take care not to damage the oil seal when the axle shaft assembly is removed.

Remove the cotter pin from castle nut (16). Then remove the castle nut.
Remove tie rod assembly (17) from the steering knuckle.
Perform Step 12 and Step 13 in order to disconnect the other end of the tie rod assembly.

Remove four bolts (18) that secure upper kingpin cap (19) to the steering knuckle.
Remove four bolts (20) that secure lower kingpin cap (21) to the steering knuckle.

Upper kingpin cap is shown for clarity.
Thread Tool (E) into the threaded holes in the kingpin cap. Tighten the bolts in order to remove the kingpin cap. Remove the lower kingpin cap first and then remove the upper kingpin cap.Note: Ensure that the shim pack (21) (not shown) remains with the correct kingpin cap. DO NOT MIX SHIM PACKS.

Remove grease seal (22) from the steering knuckle.

Use Tool (D) and a suitable lifting device to remove steering knuckle (14) from the axle housing. The weight of the steering knuckle is 20 kg (45 lb).Note: Tip the steering knuckle to aid in the removal process.

Use Tool (F) in order to remove inner axle oil seal (23) from axle housing (24) .

Remove differential carrier assembly (25) from the axle housing.
Use a suitable lift and Tool (A) in order to remove the differential carrier assembly from the axle housing. The weight of the differential carrier assembly is 113 kg (250 lb).

Mount differential carrier assembly (25) to Tool (G) .
