(10) Planetary gears.The hydraulic oil from the bank valve is supplied to the piston motor (swing). The oil enters the piston motor (swing) through port (A) in the valve plate (4). The oil enters the barrel (3) through the port of the cylinder that is aligned with port (A). The oil pushes the piston (2). The pushing force is converted into rotation by the swashplate (5). The shaft is splined to the barrel (3). The rotation of the barrel turns the shaft (1). The oil flows out of the piston motor through port (B). For the reverse rotation, the oil enters through port (B) and the oil exits through port (A).

Ports (A) and (B) are connected to the swing control valve. When the swing control is activated, the control valve allows oil to flow to the piston motor (swing). Refer to the Systems Operation, "Bank Valve" for more information on the swing control valve.The two relief valves (13) and (15) protect the piston motor (12) against pressure spikes. The relief valves are set at 8800 kPa (1280 psi).The delay pistons (14) and (16) help to dampen the movement of the cab when the swing control is released.The parking brake (11) is a disc brake. The parking brake is engaged with spring force and the parking brake is released with pilot pressure. The swing parking brake is released when the hydraulic control console is lowered.When the hydraulic control console is raised, the spring forces the brake piston to engage. Oil is pushed out of the brake chamber through port (DR). This prevents the piston motor (swing) from turning the cab. When the hydraulic control console is lowered, pilot oil enters port (PP). This causes the brake to disengage.The drain (DR) serves as the case drain for the piston motor (swing).
