Typical view of a leaking quick fill receiver valve with the cap removed from the valveThe quick fill receiver valves can develop a slow leak or weep fluid. The slow leak is most commonly caused by debris trapped in the seal area of the valve. Refer to Illustration 1.Solution

Typical view of a dirty capThe valve should be wiped clean before and after each use with a clean rag. Also, be sure to clean the inside of the protective cap before placing the cap back on the valve. Refer to Illustration 2.Keep the valve clean and the cap in place to help eliminate the possibility of developing a leak.If a leak does develop, properly cleaning the valve by flushing the open plunger on the valve with mineral spirits can usually fix the leak. Perform the steps below to clean the valve properly.Note: If possible, plan the cleaning procedure during the next scheduled maintenance.
Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to the machines Operations and Maintenance Manual or the machines Testing and Adjusting manual for instructions on how to prepare the machine for maintenance.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Remove the valve.Note: Draining the fluid before removing the receiver valve may be required. The fluid may be hot.
Do not clean the valve with brake cleaner. Brake cleaner will degrade the plastic and rubber components.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Hold the plunger on the valve open while flushing the valve with mineral spirits.Note: 4C-6796 Mineral Spirits 19 L (5 US gal) and the 4C-6797 Mineral Spirits 208 L (55 US gal) are available.
Reinstall the valve and refill any fluids. Refer to the Operations and Maintenance Manual for the fluids and capacities.If repeated leaks with the quick fill receiver valves are experienced, and a willingness to test some new receiver valves exists, contact the product group through the Dealer Solution Network (DSN).
