Install piston (85) and spring (87) in housing assembly (79) .
Install spacer (86) on spring (87) .

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Use Tooling (E) and a suitable press in order to compress the spring. Use Tooling (D) in order to install snap ring (88) .

Install housing assembly (79) in gear (76) .
Use Tooling (F) to install snap ring (89) in order to hold the housing assembly in position.

This is the correct method for making new seal rings ready for installation.

This is the wrong method for making new seal rings ready for installation.
New seal rings must be preloaded before they are installed to prevent them from being damaged or broken. There is a correct method to preload new seal rings prior to installation. Place your hands on each end of the seal ring, and pull (wind) the ends several inches past each other or until they almost make contact. Use care to keep the ring shaped like a circle. This will make an even bend (or ring "set") all around the ring. When the seal ring is in the groove of the hub, the ends must butt together lightly. Do not bend the seal ring. This does not make an even bend all the way around the ring.Do not attempt to use this method to preload a used seal ring. Also, do not use this procedure for cast iron seal rings. This will cause used or cast iron seal rings to break.

Install rings (90) in the grooves in the carrier.Note: The bottom two plates of plates (92) must be aligned with the top three plates of plates (72). The top plate of plates (92) must be aligned with the bottom of plates (72) .
Start with a disc, and install discs (91). Install plates (92). Alternate the discs and plates.

Install rings (93) and (95) on piston (94). Install the rings with the lip of the rings, as shown. Apply clean oil on the rings.

Install the piston in housing assembly (96). Install the housing assembly on plate (73) .

Install bolts (98) in order to hold the planetary group to the rear cover assembly.
Align the notch in the inner race of bearing (99) with the dowel in the housing assembly. Install the bearing.
Install ring (97) in order to hold the bearing in position.

Fasten Tooling (G) and a suitable lifting device to housing assembly (79) .
Use the suitable lifting device in order to support the weight of the housing assembly. Use Tooling (D) in order to install snap ring (100) .End By:
Install the transmission hydraulic control valves. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission Hydraulic Control Valve - Remove".
Connect the transmission and bevel gears. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission and Bevel Gears - Connect".
