Illustration 1. Typical track idler cap group.Correct fit of the cap assembly can be checked by installing the roller or idler with its cap. Tighten the bolts evenly before applying final torque. Tighten the bolts to the torque given in the chart. After the specified torque has been applied to both bolts, check the gap between the cap and the roller carrier and/or idler yoke. The gap (see Illustration 2) must be a minimum of 0.13 mm (.005") between at least one side of the cap and the carrier or yoke. If clearance is inadequate, remove the cap and remove a sufficient amount of material from both sides of the cap until there is a gap of at least 0.13 mm (.005") but not more than 0.50 mm (.0197"). Make sure the gap extends across the entire face of at least one side of the cap assembly.
