Installation Procedure
Use caution when you are using isopropyl alcohol. Avoid prolonged skin contact with isopropyl alcohol.Vapors may be harmful if inhaled. Use only in a well ventilated area. Do not smoke while using isopropyl alcohol.Isopropyl alcohol is flammable. Do not use near an open flame or near welding operations. Keep isopropyl alcohol away from heated surfaces exceeding 482°C (900°F).
Illustration 11 g06309738Note: This connection is an electrical connection and cannot be lubricated with a petroleum-based lubricant. Isopropyl alcohol is the only approved lubrication for this connection.
Lubricate new O-ring seals (35) and (34) with Tooling (B) prior to installation.
Install new O-ring seals (35) and (34) on CEM harness assembly (22).

Install adapters (33). Tighten adapters (33) to a torque of 60 6 N m (44 4 lb ft).
Install spark plug (32). Tighten spark plug (32) to a torque of 47 4 N m (35 3 lb ft).
Install connectors (31) and (30). Tighten connectors (31) and (30) to a torque of 30 2 N m (266 18 lb in).

If removed, install studs (29). Apply Tooling (C) onto the threads of studs (29). Tighten studs (29) to a torque of 17 2 N m (150 18 lb in).
Install a new gasket (24), tube assembly (25), and a new gasket (26).Note: The gaskets are one-time use only. Use new gaskets for installation.
Install combustion head (27) and locknuts (28). Apply Tooling (C) onto the threads of the studs and locknuts (28). Tighten locknuts (28) in a crisscross pattern as shown in Illustration 14 to a torque of 23 3 N m (17 2 lb ft).
Tighten locknuts (28) again in a crisscross pattern as shown in Illustration 14 to a torque of 28 3 N m (21 2 lb ft).
Tighten locknuts (28) again in a crisscross pattern as shown in Illustration 14 to a torque of 28 3 N m (21 2 lb ft).

Apply Tooling (C) to the threads of temperature sensor (23) and install temperature sensor (23). Tighten temperature sensor (23) to a torque of 45 5 N m (33 3 lb ft). (23).
Connect CEM harness assembly (22).
Install the wire clamp and socket head bolt (21).
Position harness assembly (20) and install cable straps (19).

Connect hose assembly (15).
Connect wire assembly (17) and install bolt (18).
Connect harness assembly (14).
Install cable straps (16).

Install the bolt and clamps (11).
Install the bolt and clamps (10) (not shown).
Install the gasket and connect air tube assembly (12).
Install bolts (13).

Connect tube assembly (9) and tube assemblies (8).

Install cover (7) and bolts (6).

Install cover assembly (5) and bolts (4).
Close right side door assembly (3).

Install cover (2) and bolts (1).
Check the coolant level. If necessary, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Coolant - Change" for the proper filling procedure.
Turn the fuel supply valve to the ON position.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
Perform the ARD ignition test. Refer to Troubleshooting Manual, "ARD Ignition - Test".
