AGENT CYLINDERS (COVER REMOVED)
12. Levers (one for each cylinder). 13. Pins (one in each lever).Agent Cylinder Checks
The fire suppression agent is stored under pressure in one cylinder. The pressure assists in the discharge of the Agent at low temperatures. The gauge on the Agent cylinder can be replaced. A small shut-off valve is placed between the gauge and the cylinder valve. The shut-off valve must be closed before removing the gauge. After the replacement gauge is installed, open the shut-off valve. One type of fire suppression Agent that is stored in the Agent cylinder may require the use of a temperature gauge. Comparison of the gauge reading of the Agent cylinder's compartment air temperature will tell the condition of the Agent cylinder. The gauge reading should be equal to or above the Agent cylinder's compartment air temperature. If the gauge reading is lower than the compartment's air temperature, the gauge can be bad or the Agent in the cylinder can be low. Weigh the Agent cylinder. The weight must be greater than 29 kg (63 lb.).Some systems may use a type of fire suppression agent that has a gauge with a green operating area. The system is operable when the pressure gauge is in the green area. The Agent cylinder must be checked daily before each operation or use of the machine. If the cylinder's gauge indicates a possible fault, it is recommended not to operate the machine until it is checked.Nitrogen Actuator Checks
The nitrogen actuators activate the Agent cylinder valve. After the valve is activated by the nitrogen actuator, the Agent will be released into the Agent distribution lines. The nitrogen actuators are equipped with a pressure gauge. The gauge dial has a green band (area) indicating the acceptable pressure range for the actuator. If the indicator is not in the green range, replace the actuator. The machine can still be operated, but the fire suppression system must be activated at the Agent cylinder or the other (fully charged, arrow in the green area of gauge) nitrogen actuator.Recharge the actuator to the correct pressure 4140 kPa at 21.2°C (600 psi at 70°F) and check the gauge again. If the indicator arrow is not in the green area, the gauge is defective. Replace the actuator with another fully charged nitrogen actuator with an operable gauge.Engine Shut-Off Tests
It is not necessary to activat the Agent cylinders when engine shut-off tests are made. A supply of pressure air is used instead of the pressure from the Agent cylinders. An ammeter (0 to 20 ampere range), a long hose with a 3/8 in.-18 NPT fitting on the open end and the hose connected to an air supply of approximately 620 kPa (90 psi) are the other tools necessary to make the electric operation tests for the shut-off solenoid on the engine.1. Place lockout pins in Agent cylinders.2. With the engine stopped, remove the floor plate from the tractor.3. Remove either one of plugs (1) and install the air hose in the manifold where the plug was
