Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the engine oil from the engine into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Loosen nut (4) and move the overflow tube away from the oil level gauge guide. Loosen nut (3) and remove the oil level gauge guide from the engine.
Remove bolts (1) and the washers that hold the engine oil pan in position. Remove engine oil pan (2) and the gasket from the engine oil pan plate.Installation Procedure

Put the gasket and engine oil pan (2) in position on the engine oil pan plate. Install bolts (1) and the washers that hold the engine oil pan in position.
Install the oil level gauge guide and tighten nut (3). Fasten the overflow tube to the oil level gauge guide and tighten nut (4) .
Fill the crankcase with engine oil to the proper level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities".
