Remove the hood.
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Wear goggles, gloves, protective clothing, and a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved P95 or N95 half-face respirator when handling a used Diesel Particulate Filter or Catalytic Converter Muffler. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

Remove band clamp (1) and discard band clamp (1).

Remove temperature sensor (4).
Disconnect strap assembly (3).
Disconnect tube assembly (6).
Loosen clamp assembly (2).
Remove inlet module (catalyst) (5).Installation Procedure
Note: When installing a new inlet module (catalyst) or a cleaned inlet module (catalyst) , a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) reset must be performed. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS8180, "Aftertreatment Filter Maintenance on Tier 4 Final Products Equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), and a Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) Filter" for the correct procedure.

Facing the inlet module (catalyst)
Install inlet module (catalyst) (5).
Install tube assembly (6).Note: Do not use power tools to tighten clamp assembly (2).
Install clamp assembly (2) to Dimension (V). Dimension (V) is 39° 5°. Tighten clamp assembly (2) to a torque of 60 5 N m (44 4 lb ft).
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of temperature sensor (4). Tighten temperature sensor (4) to a torque of 45 5 N m (33 4 lb ft).

Strap assembly (3) is to be centered in the cradle pin joint and aligned uniformly over the inlet module (catalyst) during installation to prevent gaps.
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of strap assembly (3) along Dimension (W). Dimension (W) is 25 mm (1.0 inch) above the trunnion. Tighten strap assembly (3) to a torque of 15 + 3 - 0 N m (133 + 27 - 0 lb in).

Maintain Dimension (X) between the loops of strap assembly (3) after tightening strap assembly (3). Dimension (X) is 4 mm (0.15 inch).

Cutaway view of band clamp (1) in position on the inlet module (catalyst).
Note: Do not use power tools to torque band clamp (1).
Center band clamp (1) between Location (Y) and Location (Z). Install a new band clamp (1) and hand-tighten band clamp (1).Note: Band clamp (1) should be in the center of the joint.
Torque band clamp (1) to a torque of 35 2 N m (26 1 lb ft).
