4. Remove valve cover (2).5. Disconnect glow plug wire (1).6. Disconnect fuel injection lines (3). 7. Remove four fuel injection lines (4).8. Disconnect four glow plug wires (6).9. Position No. 1 cylinder in (TC) firing position and install camshaft timing pin (5).10. Remove camshaft gear cover from camshaft housing. 11. Install 3/8"-16 NC forged eyebolts, connect hoist and remove camshafts and housing-weight 375 lbs. (170 kg). 12. Remove camshaft retaining plates (7).13. Remove gear retaining bolts, slide camshafts back, and remove camshaft drive gears.14. Remove camshafts from housing.Install Camshafts
1. Position camshafts in housing.2. Slide drive gears onto camshafts, align timing marks, and secure gears to camshafts. Install camshaft timing pin.3. Install camshaft retaining plates. 4. Before installing camshafts on engine, No. 1 cylinder must be in (TC) firing position. If crankshaft has been rotated, it will be necessary to doublecheck the timing by first installing the flywheel timing pin and then installing the fuel injection pump timing pin. If both pins go in, No. 1 cylinder is in (TC) firing position. If only the flywheel pin goes in, No. 1 cylinder is on the exhaust stroke, and the crankshaft must be turned one more revolution. Failure to do this could result in valve damage.5. Loosen all valve lash adjusting screws. 6. Attach hoist and install assembled camshaft housing onto engine.7. Install camshaft gear cover.8. Connect fuel injection lines.9. Connect glow plug wires.10. Adjust valves to provide lash of .020 in. (0,51mm) for exhausts and .008 in. (0,20 mm) for intakes.11. Install valve cover.12. Install fuel filters and/or air inlet pipe.13. Install hood.
