PROBLEM
The existing rear axle shaft assembly can fail the u-joint on certain 434E, 442E, and 444E Backhoe Loaders. If the existing axle shaft assembly fails it can be replaced with a new higher capacity shaft assembly.

ACTION REQUIRED
When one rear axle shaft fails both rear axle shaft assemblies must be replaced to implement this program.
Refer to the attached Rework Procedure.

PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
When one rear axle shaft fails, replace BOTH rear axle shaft assemblies.
Refer to the Service Manual as necessary to replace the axle shaft assembly. RENR6475 Disassembly and Assembly 414E, 416E, 420E, 422E, 428E, 430E, 432E, 442E,and 444E Backhoe Loaders Power Train.
1. Remove the rear tires.
2. Remove the rear drive shaft.
3. Remove rear axle.
4. Remove axle housings and wheel flanges.
5. Remove axle shafts and lip seals.
6. Install new lip seals and new axle shafts. Be sure to replace both axle shafts.
7. Reassemble the rear axle and install on machine.
8. Bleed the brakes.
9. Check the machine for proper operation.
