Introduction
The problem that is identified below has been found when performing preventive maintenance on F-Series Backhoe Loaders.Problem
The primary air filter and the secondary air filter on certain F-Series Backhoe Loaders have been found damaged when performing preventive maintenance on the machine. Poor air filter maintenance can lead to air filter failure. Air filter failure can cause dust ingress and engine failure. Solution
When cleaning the primary air filter, carefully check for any signs of damage. If any damage is found in the paper pleats or in the foam body, the primary air filter must be replaced. Reusing a damaged primary air filter can cause the secondary air filter to be overloaded with debris and fail.Note: The secondary air filter should not be removed for cleaning. Replacing the secondary air filter is required. Refer to the OMM for your machine regarding the maintenance for the air filters.
