Information:
- A short circuit condition exists for the measurement. The circuit from the EMCP to the control relay is OK. Leave the jumper wire at the connector for the EMCP in place. Proceed to Test Step 7.
Not OK - The measurements did not indicate a short circuit.Repair: There is an open circuit in the harness between the EMCP and the control relay. Repair the wiring and/or the connectors. Replace parts, if necessary. Restore the wiring to the original configuration. Verify that the original problem has been resolved.STOPTest Step 7. Check the Operation of the Control Relay
Turn the battery isolator switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage between terminal 2 (+Battery) and terminal 10 of the control relay.
Measure the voltage between terminal 11 (+Battery) and terminal 10 of the control relay.
Turn the battery isolator switch to the OFF position. Expected Result:The voltage is 24 3 VDC for each measurement. Results:
OK - The voltage is 24 3 VDC for each measurement.Repair: The supply voltage is correct at the control relay. Check the output voltage of the control relay:
Turn the battery isolator switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage between 9 (relay output) and terminal 10 of the control relay. The correct voltage is 24 3 VDC.
Turn the battery isolator switch to the OFF position. If 24 3 VDC is not present on terminal 9 (relay output), there is a problem with the control relay. Replace the control relay. The repair is complete. Restore the wiring to the original configuration. Verify that the original problem has been resolved. If 24 3 VDC is present on terminal 9 (relay output), the control relay is OK. Ensure that the jumper wire between terminals 48 and 58 at the connector for the EMCP remains in place. Proceed to Test Step 8.
Not OK - The voltage is not 24 3 VDC on either terminal 2 or terminal 11 of the control relay.Repair: Determine the reason that the voltage for the +Battery is not present at the control relay. Check the condition of fuse F4. Ensure that voltage is present at both the input and the output of the fuse.If voltage is present at the output of the fuse, the fuse is OK. There is a problem in the harness between the fuse and the control relay. Repair the harness. If necessary, replace the harness. Restore the wiring to the original configuration. Verify that the repair resolves the original problem. If voltage is present at the input to the fuse and voltage is not present at the output of the fuse, the problem is the fuse. Replace the fuse. Restore the wiring to the original configuration. Verify that the repair resolves the original problem. If voltage is not present at the input to the fuse, the problem is in the harness between the +Battery and the fuse. Repair the harness or replace the harness. Restore the wiring to the original configuration. Verify that the repair resolves the original problem.STOPTest Step 8. Check the Harness
