Some 3116, 3126, and 3126B engines have been assembled with9S4190 plugs instead of 5P8196 plugs of the oil filter bypass system. Theinstallation of the wrong plug decreases the bypass valve pressure allowingthe passage of unfiltered oil into the engine lubricant circuit. You willnot be charged for the service performed.Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediatelyto schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time requiredto complete this service. Replace the 9S4190 Plugs with the 5P8196 Plugson the engine oil filter base at locations (1) and (2) torque to 57+5 Nm(42+4 lb ft). Replace both Old 2M9780 Seals by New One.

Remove both 9S4190 Plugs and 2M9780 Seals.
Install the 2M9780 Seals, the 5P8196 Plugs, andtorque to 57 + 5 Nm (42 + 4 lb ft).
