Information:

The suspension system may drop the machine suddenly, leaving no clearance between the axle housing, main frame, tires and mud guards. Working in these areas can result in personal injury or death by crushing. Stay clear until the engine is stopped and the suspension is lowered to the service position.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the breather filter cap only when the engine is stopped and the breather filter cap is cool enough to touch. Slowly loosen the breather filter cap to release any pressure in the hydraulic tank. Be cautious of hot hydraulic oil when any lines are disconnected in the hydraulic system.
Put identification on all lines, hoses, wires and tubes for installation purposes. Cap and plug all lines, hoses and tubes to prevent foreign material from entering the system. Drain all fluids in a suitable container for storage or disposal.1. Lower the suspension, see the Operation and Maintenance Manual. 2. Remove hose from support (5) on steering cylinder (3).3. Disconnect two lines (4) on steering cylinder (3) and one line (1) at top of suspension cylinder (2). Reposition lines out of the way. 4. Remove nut, retainer washer and bolt (7) from pin (6) at bottom of suspension cylinder (3).5. Drive the pin out using a brass punch and a hammer. 6. Using a pry bar reposition the bottom of suspension cylinder (3) outside support bracket (8). 7. Attach a lifting strap to the cylinder and a suitable lifting device, reposition suspension cylinder (3) to a horizontal position. 8. Using a suitable fork truck for supporting the suspension cylinder repeat steps (4) and (5) to remove pin (10) from the top cylinder support mounting (9).9. Remove suspension cylinder (3) from the machine. The weight of the suspension cylinder is 34 kg (75 lb). Install the suspension cylinder in the reverse order.End By:a. install front tire *b. install fender*Located in the Power Train Manual SENR8653-01 Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for all fluid capacities and the proper filling procedures.Disassemble & Assemble Front Suspension Cylinders

Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools and Shop Products Guide, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. 1. Remove the lip seals from both sides of the pin bores in the cylinder assembly and the rod assembly.2. Remove ball joint (12) from the cylinder assembly and the rod assembly at the mounting pin locations.3. Put the suspension cylinder in Tooling (A).4. Unscrew end cap (2) from the cylinder
