Reference: Refer to Operations and Maintenance Manual, KEBU7018, "Contacting Systems" for the correct mounting instructions. The following precautions must be followed in order to minimize damage to the electrical harness and to the electrical components:
The engine control switch must be in the Off position prior to the installation of the controllers to the machine.
The controller must be powered Off prior to the installation of the grade sensor to the machine. The control box must be in the Off position prior to moving the position of the contact sensor. Once the contact sensor has been moved, the controller must be powered ON so the controller recognizes the new position of the contact sensor.Failure to carry out the following procedure may have the following results:
The controller may not recognize the orientation of the contact sensor.
The controller may not function correctly.Perform the following procedure to orient the sensor.
Turn the controller On.
Select the manual position. The red light should not be illuminated next to the auto button.
Select grade mode. The green LED next to the elevation indicator will be illuminated.
Press and hold the survey/indicate button until the controller beeps twice and the On grade indicator illuminates.
Go to the contact sensor and place a quarter or a half inch shim under the wand or the shoe.
Return to the controller and observe the On grade indicator. If the orientation is correct, the red up arrow should be blinking or on continuously. If the amber down arrow is on or blinking, the orientation of the hub is incorrect.
Power down the controller and check all of the connections. Check the connection of the wand.
Turn the controller On and repeat the procedure.
If the amber down arrow is on or if the amber down arrow is blinking after two attempts, there is a fault with the contact sensor.
Replace the contact sensor and follow the installation instructions.
Remove the shim. The ON grade indicator should be blinking.
