Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Fill the fuel tank at the end of each day of operation to drive out moist air and to prevent condensation.Do not fill the tank to the top. Fuel expands as it gets warm and may overflow.
Park the machine on a level surface. Ensure that the parking brake is fully engaged. Lower the dump body and shut off the engine.Drain water and sediment from the fuel tank after the fuel tank has been filled. Allow the machine to stand for ten minutes before draining the fuel tank.
Illustration 1 g03488178The purge screw (1) for the fuel tank is located on the bottom of the fuel tank. The fuel tank is located on the right side of the tractor.
Remove the fuel tank cap. The fuel tank cap is located on top of the fuel tank.
Open the purge screw until fluid and sediment starts to flow from the drain hole.
Allow the fluid and sediment to flow into a suitable container.
When the flow from the fuel tank is free of water and sediment, close the purge screw.
