PRODUCT SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING FAILURES ON 416, 426 AND 428 BACKHOE LOADERS, 4269, PS0319 U-156 A-72 AU-94 E-68 O-88 This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS0319" as Part Number and "7755" as Group Number. Although products are to be administered as described above, parts stock should be purged immediately. Termination Date

Problem
The brake pedal return springs on some 416, 426 and 428 Backhoe Loaders may break. If the springs break, the pedals will not return to their normal position.

Parts Stock Remove all 9R1710 and 9R1711 Springs and 9R2918 Rods from parts stock. Affected Product See the attached procedure. WARRANTY ALLOWANCES Submit one claim for all 9R1710 and 9R1711 Springs and 9R2918 Rods removed from parts stock. (SEE ILLUSTRATION)
Parts Disposition
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling. Attach. (1 - Brake Rework Procedure) Brake Rework Procedure 1. Remove the front floor plate assembly. 2. Disconnect the existing 9R2918 Linkage Rods at the rod ends. Remove the rod ends from the linkage rods. 3. Disconnect the wires for the brake switches. Mark the wires to make assembly easier. 4. Remove the three mounting bolts, the bracket assembly and pedal assemblies. 5. Remove the 9R1710 and 9R1711 Springs (pedal return springs) and the two bolts and washers that hold them in place. 6. Install the two 8T6663 Adapters and 8T2335 Elbows between the two 9R2538 Tube Assemblies and the two hose assemblies in the steering lines group. Install the adapters on the ends of the tube assemblies. The new parts will provide clearance for the new springs. See Illustration 1. 7. Reassemble the pedal assemblies and bracket assembly and install them with the three mounting bolts. 8. Install the 8T5063 Rod Ends (bottom) on the ends of the new 9R4464 Linkage Rods until the ends of the rods are flush with the inside of the rod end. 9. Install the locknuts and 8T4815 Rod Ends (top). Adjust the top rod ends until there is 290.5 mm (11.44") between the centerlines of the pin holes. Tighten the locknuts. 10. Remove the bottom rod ends. 11.
