Location of the Brake Oil Cooler (1) Cooler return oil (2) Line from the hoist system to the oil cooler (3) Brake oil coolerThe brake oil cooler is located on the right side of the engine.Coolant from the engine comes in at one end of the oil cooler. The coolant goes through the many long tubes that are inside the cooler. After the coolant goes through the tubes, the coolant exits the other end of the cooler and returns to the coolant system.Hot hydraulic oil comes from the hoist circuit through line (2) to oil cooler (3). The oil flows around the coolant tubes. The baffles inside the cooler route the oil through the cooler and the baffles support tubes. Heat is removed from the oil. This heat is absorbed by the coolant. The heated coolant now leaves the cooler and returns to the engine cooling system in order to be cooled.

The cooled oil exits the cooler through line (1) to the brake cooling system. The cooled oil flows to the brakes. This is used to absorb heat from the multiple disc brakes. The oil is then returned to the hydraulic tank.
