Before upgrading EMCP 3 software, first determine the software that is currently installed in the EMCP 3 control.On all EMCP 3 controls, determine the part number for the software by connecting to the control with the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET). Then, proceed to the ECM summary screen.Note: The ECM summary screen displays the version of software that is currently installed in the EMCP 3.Perform one of the appropriate procedures for an EUI engine or for a MUI engine.Procedure For EUI Engines
Proceed to Step 3 if you have a EMCP 3.3.
Upgrade the EMCP 3.2 software. Proceed to Step 7.
If the current part number that is installed on your EMCP 3.3 is 266-5553 Generator Set Software Gp , you will need to determine if the Relay Outputs or the Digital Outputs are being used.If the current part number that is installed on your EMCP 3.3 is not 266-5553 Generator Set Software Gp , go to Step 4.If none of the Relay Outputs or the Digital Outputs are being used, go to Step 4.If any of the Relay Outputs or the Digital Outputs are being used, the wiring and the programming may need to be changed. Go to Step 5.
Use the Cat ET and Winflash in order to upgrade the EMCP 3.3 software.Proceed to Step 7.
Use Table 1 through Table 8 in order to determine the programming of each of the Digital Selectors. Table 1 through Table 8 will tell you each of the Digital Selector inputs for the 266-5553 Generator Set Software Gp .Note: The parameters that are listed in bold are the default values.
