Steering Column and Hand Metering Unit
Remove Steering Column and Hand Metering Unit
1. Remove the trim and nut from the top of the steering column and lift off the steering wheel. 2. Remove screws (1) and clamp (2) to release the turn signal switch from the column. 3. Mark for identification on reassembly, and remove the hydraulic pipes from the hand metering unit (3).4. Plug the open ports and hose ends.5. Remove nuts (4) from the steering column flange.6. Remove nuts, bolts and spacers (6) from the steering column support bracket and lift the column with the hand metering unit into the cab.Install Steering Column and Hand Metering Unit
1. Lower the hand metering unit through the hole in the cab floor and locate the four studs through the steering column flange, taking care to avoid damaging the stud threads. 2. Install lock washers and nuts (4) to the studs. Leave the nuts hand tight only. 3. Assemble the column to the support bracket with nuts, bolts and spacers (6). Leave the bolts hand tight only.4. Tighten the steering column flange nuts to the correct torque, then tighten the column support bracket bolts and nuts to the correct torque.5. Install the turn signal switch and the steering wheel. Tighten the steering wheel securing nut to the correct torque and install trim.6. Install and tighten the hydraulic hoses.Remove Hand Metering Unit
1. Mark for identification on reassembly, and remove the hydraulic pipes from the hand metering unit (3)2. Install blanking plugs into the open hose ends and ports.3. Support the hand metering unit, and remove bolts (5) from the steering column flange inside the cab.4. Lower the unit clear of the steering column splines.Install Hand Metering Unit
1. Carefully engage the unit onto the steering column splines and support in position.2. Install bolts (5) through the steering column flange into the corresponding holes in the unit, and tighten to the correct torque.3. Install and tighten the hydraulic hoses.
