Information:
5. Inspect transmission, hoist, converter and brake hydraulic system for leaks, worn hoses and damaged lines. 6. Inspect steering hydraulic system for leaks, worn hoses and damaged lines.7. Inspect covers for damage, loose or missing bolts.8. Inspect suspension cylinders for leaks and measure cylinder height.Consult your Caterpillar dealer for instructions or service.9. Inspect body and frame for damage, wear or distortion. Check the welds and mounting brackets for the fuel tank, the hydraulic tank, etc. 10. Inspect lights for broken lamps, lenses and proper operation.11. Inspect the Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) for cracks in welds, castings or any metal section on the ROPS. Check mounting bolts and mounting pads for damage. Contact your Caterpillar dealer for necessary repairs. 12. Check frame for cracks. The areas shown in the illustration are the most important and should be checked daily.Transmission, Hoist, Converter and Brake Hydraulic Tanks
Check Oil Levels
Check the transmission sight gauge (1), hoist converter and brake hydraulic tank sight gauge (2) oil levels. With the body (bed) lowered, engine stopped and oil cold, the oil must be to the FULL COLD mark in sight gauge (1) and be visible in hydraulic tank sight gauge (2).Engine Crankcase
Measure Oil Level
1. The machine must be level and the parking brake applied.2. Before starting the engine, the oil level must be in the SAFE STARTING RANGE on the ENGINE STOPPED side of the dipstick.3. With the engine running and the oil warm, maintain the oil level between the ADD and FULL marks on the ENGINE RUNNING side of the dipstick. Add oil if necessary.Steering System Tank
Check Oil Level
Check the steering system hydraulic oil level. Maintain the oil (with the machine stopped and engine not running) to the FULL mark in upper sight gauge (1).After engine startup, recheck the oil level. If the oil level registers FULL at lower gauge (2), then the accumulators are properly charged. If it registers below the ADD mark in the lower sight gauge (2), it is incorrectly precharged. See your Caterpillar dealer for charging procedures. If oil must be added, stop the engine with the key start switch and wait for accumulators to completely discharge.Radiators - Engine and Aftercooler
Check Coolant Levels
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
If it is necessary to add make-up water daily, inspect for leaks. 1. Remove the radiator caps slowly to relieve pressure. Maintain the coolant levels to above the level indicator plates in the bottom of the fill pipes.2. Clean and inspect the caps. If the seals are damaged, disassemble the caps and replace the seals.3. Assemble and install the caps.Suspension Cylinders - Front and Rear
Measure Cylinder Height - Recharge If Necessary
