Remove the two bolts that secure nut (1). Use Tooling (A) to remove the nut.

Install a wood block between the cylinder rod and the jaw. Ensure that the block is a tight fit. Use a large hammer and a brass drift to partially remove pin (2) from the work tool. Install an appropriate nylon lifting sling and a hoist to the head of the pin. Tap the pin lightly in order to prevent swinging of the pin during removal. Remove the pin from the work tool. The weight of the pin is 49 kg (108 lb).

Attach an appropriate nylon lifting sling and a hoist to cylinder (3). Raise the cylinder to a vertical position and remove the wood block.

Note: Cover the cylinder rod in order to prevent damage from the pry bar.
Install a pry bar of sufficient length in order to secure cylinder (3) in an upright position. Remove the lifting sling and the hoist from the cylinder.

Attach appropriate lifting chains and a hoist to jaw (6). Refer to Table 2 for the weights of the jaws.

Note: If the work tool is not connected to a machine, secure the lower housing with a suitable lifting device. If a suitable lifting device is not available, install wheel chocks below the lower housing.

Place some shop towels below pin (8). Use a large hammer and a brass drift to remove the pin. The weight of the pin is 87 kg (192 lb).

Use the hoist to lift jaw (6) from the lower housing. The jaws rest on bar (9) on the lower housing of the work tool. Ensure that you lift the jaws off the bar and remove the jaws from the work tool. Use care when you lift the jaws in order to prevent movement of the lower housing.
