Groove (29), pin (31) and the groove in retainer (36) must be kept in alignment until Spring Compressor (R) puts spring (32) in compression enough to install snap ring (37).
Spring (32) on the shaft can cause injury if snap ring (37) is not completely engaged in the groove in the shaft before Spring Compressor (R) is removed. To prevent injury, be sure the snap ring is completely engaged in the groove and carefully remove Spring Compressor (R).
35. Use Spring Compressor (R) and a 5/161/2 in bolt, at least 165 mm (6 in) long with a nut and washers to put the spring in compression, so that snap ring (37) can be installed in the groove in shaft (28). Use snap ring plier (S) to install the snap ring in the groove.36. Carefully loosen the bolt in Spring Compressor (R) until snap ring (37) holds the spring in compression. Remove Spring Compressor (R). 37. Install spring (38) and tube (39) into shaft assembly (40). 38. Remove Protective Plate (Q) to install the shaft assembly. Install shaft assembly (40) into barrel (26). 39. Use snap ring pliers (N) to install snap ring (41) in the groove of the barrel. Put Protective Plate (Q) back in position on the barrel face. 40. Use Driver (T) to install the bearings in trunnion (42). 41. Install seals (43) in the trunnion. 42. Install washers (48) on bolt (49). (See Step 10, Disassemble Track Motors, in this module) Install bolt (49) through the trunnion and install retainer (47), three springs (46), retainer (45) and block (44).43. Tighten bolt (49) all the way into block (44). 44. Install seal (51) on piston (50). Install insert (58) into the piston with the flat side in. Put snap ring (56) and retainer (57) in position on link (55).45. Put link (55) in position in the piston and use snap ring pliers (N) to install snap ring (56) into the groove in piston (50).46. Put snap ring (54) and retainer (53) in position on link (55). Install insert (52) into the trunnion with the flat side in. 47. Put servo piston assembly (59) in place in the trunnion. Install snap ring (53) with snap ring pliers (U) to hold the retainer link and insert in place. 48. Install two 1/2 in - 13 NC forged eyebolts in trunnion (42). Lubricate seal (51) with clean hydraulic oil. Install trunnion (42) carefully over barrel (26). Install piston (50) into position in the track motor housing. 49. Install seals (60) and (61) on cover (62). Lubricate the seals with clean hydraulic oil. 50. Use a soft faced hammer and a block of wood to install rotor (63) into cover (62). 51. Install two 3/8 in - 16 NC guide bolts (64) into the track motor housing. Install cover (62) and the bolts that hold the cover to the track motor housing. Install the cover on the other side of the track motor. 52. Install Puller (V) on the track motor housing.
