This chart includes some incorrect engine serial numbers. The correct chart follows.
--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------3500B and 3500 With EUI Option engines now have a new 130-7481 Version D ECM. It replaces the 7X-6321 Version C ECM and is used on engines built after April 1997. Although some machines also use the Version D ECM, the change is relatively transparent to them. Refer to the Chart below for serial number effectivity.
The new ECM is very similar to the old one, but requires minor wiring harness, Electronic Instrument Panel, and software changes. Since the two ECMs look alike, you will need to refer to the part number to tell them apart.
There is some new service literature to support the changes. Engines built after April 97 are wired according to the following schematic diagrams.
* Marine Propulsion schematic: RENR1297-01 July 1997.* Marine Auxiliary schematic: RENR1245-02 July 1997.* EPG with EMCP schematic: RENR1242-02 July 1997.* EPG with Switchgear Conversion schematic: RENR1243-02 July 1997. Marine engines with premium wiring harness required by certain marine certification groups are wired differently than engines with standard wiring harness and require different schematic diagrams. Engines with premium wiring harness do not have the customary protective yellow braiding. Instead, premium wiring is routed around the engine in metal trays. The FIND system and SIS Setup and Tool Guide CD now have two 3500B commercial flash file listings. Use "3500B Commercial Engines (built before 4/97) Flash File Cross-Reference" to look up pre April 97 version software and use "3500B Commercial Engines (built after 4/97) Flash File Cross-Reference" to look up post April 97 version software.
The primary difference between a new version and a former version ECM is the data links. 7X-6321 version ECMs have a Cat data link and an ATA data link on the "C" keyed 40 pin connector. 130-7481 ECMs do not have an ATA data link. Instead, pins 1 and 7 are used for a Secondary Cat data link. Secondary Cat data links of up to 8 engines can be connected together and are also required for the Engine Vision display or for using the Customer Communication Module (CCM) with multiple engines.
In addition, the new 130-7481 ECM has a load feedback output when used in Marine Propulsion application. This output is a 0 to 200 mA current source that indicates the instantaneous power output of the engine. This is given as a percentage of the power available at that particular RPM. For example, if an engine is providing 500 hp at 1300 RPM, but is capable of delivering 1000 hp at
