Personal injury or death can result from machine articulation or movement.Machine frames can move and a person can be crushed.Connect the steering frame lock link between the front and rear frames before working on machine.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "System Pressure Release"
Move the machine to a smooth, horizontal location. Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel.
Lower the work tool to the ground. Stop the engine.
Engage the parking brake.
Connect the steering frame lock.
Place chocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels. Test Procedure
Position the machine so that the machine is in the STRAIGHT AHEAD Position.

Install the steering lock pin and key (1) into the frame at the articulation point on the left side of the machine.

Remove the floor mat from the cab floor and gain access to the removable floor panel (2). Remove the floor panel (2).

Install tooling (A) to the steering/implement pump discharge test port (3) which is below the removed panel (2).
Start the engine. Operate the engine at high idle. Stall the steering by continuously turning the steering wheel to the right or the left. Record the pressure indicated by tooling (A) while the steering is stalled. The steering system pressure should be 17700 700 kPa (2567 102 psi) for the 901C and 15700 700 kPa (2277 102 psi) for 902C or 903C.
Turn the engine start switch key to the OFF position.
Remove the test equipment.
